Mailing and Addressing Labels FAQs

Making your own mailing address labels is a breeze. You can use Avery Design & Print. Start by selecting a template or setting up your own dimensions. Type in the address details, making sure they're accurate. You can jazz them up a bit with different fonts or colours but keep it readable.

In Australia, when placing mailing stickers or address labels on an envelope, it's important to consider its size. You should leave a clear zone of at least 15 mm at the bottom of the envelope. Also, leave a gap of 15 mm between the address zone and the envelope's right and left edges. This typically positions the mailing sticker towards the centre of the envelope, making sure that the address is easily visible and can be quickly processed.

The standard alignment for address labels on envelopes and packages is typically left-aligned. This keeps the address layout neat and orderly, which helps with sorting and delivery by Australia Post. Make sure your text is clear and well-spaced, with each part of the address (name, street address, city, state) distinctly separated on different lines for maximum readability.

To format an address label, start with the recipient's name, followed by the street address or P.O. Box. Below that, write the city, state, and postcode down the bottom right-hand corner of the envelope. For international mail, include the country in capital letters on the last line. Make sure all the information is current and spelled correctly.

The main difference is their purpose. Address labels are for basic mailing information, like sending letters or small parcels. They typically have the sender's and recipient's addresses. Shipping labels, used for larger and commercial packages, have more detailed information like tracking numbers, barcodes, and shipping instructions. They're also usually larger to accommodate all this info.
